  • Author: Elyna
  • Total Time: 65 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 large eggs, beaten
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

  • Prepare the Chicken:

Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
Place the cornstarch in a shallow dish and coat each piece of chicken in the cornstarch.
Dip the coated chicken pieces into the beaten eggs.

  • Cook the Chicken:

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Brown the chicken pieces in the skillet until they are golden brown on all sides, but not fully cooked through. Work in batches if necessary.
Place the browned chicken pieces in the prepared baking dish.

  • Make the Sweet and Sour Sauce:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, distilled white vinegar, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.

  • Bake the Chicken:

Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the chicken pieces in the baking dish, ensuring they are well coated.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, stirring occasionally to make sure the chicken is evenly coated with the sauce.

  • Serve:

Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy your Tangy Sweet and Sour Chicken Bites!
